Local Color

"Toodling," my word for driving around with a desire to get lost and then find one's way back to someplace familiar, yields a variety of pictures. This chateau is in Berzy Le Chatel, just down the road. We passed it on our way home from Annecy...
For anyone who thinks they can't read French, read this...
Just another big house not far away...
and a landscape...
Where there are hedges there are livestock. Hedges aren't used around vineyards because they get in the way of machinery.
Two views...we didn't stop to explore, but we did capture the sign giving its age...
Not sure why this dam was created. Maybe there was a lavoir here once upon a time?
Harriet Ann is good at finding bathrooms. I'm good at spotting lavoirs and I've surprised myself that we have found quite a few that I've never seen before. Usually we just drive by, but not this time...
It still has clean flowing water, but no adornments such as a pot of flowers.

We had gone to Bonnay to see the miniatures in wood, but they weren't open until 2 PM so we went exploring down roads we weren't familiar with and found this gem...
The place wasn't huge and the moat didn't go all the way around, but it sure was picturesque.
And here's the BB car we travel in. It's having some old age issues, just like its passengers...
Further down the road we found the first lavoir I've seen that has no roof!

I liked the fountain for animals...
and another landscape. As Harriet Ann would say, it just goes on and on...
