Arrival

After relatively uneventful flights, I was greeted by green grass, flowers and sun. It snowed the day I left Vermont, but this is what I see looking out my front door here in Blanot, France.

Mireille and Noel knew I have struggled with stairs and was now nursing a bad sprain, so they added railings to the steps up to my small terrace and the gite's front door.

The sun was so hot I spent time sitting at the table out there, soaking up the heat...better than a hot shower.

This is the view at the end of the driveway. I love the tile roofs, stone walls, and splashes of color.

The next picture is the splash of color at the bottom of my steps...

and across the way...

Lauryne and Marie-Annick let me sleep late on Friday while they took on the task of getting Mimi and Harriet Ann at the airport in Lyon.

Marie-Annick emailed proof that Mimi and Harriet Ann had arrived safely.

Shortly after they arrived at my little stone cottage Francis also came bringing the old BB car they always loan me. We all sat around for a late lunch that included oeufs a la neige, or eggs in snow, because it's a super light custard made from whipped egg whites. It is also called iles flottantes, or floating islands, because it is served with Creme Anglaise, which reminds me of our egg nog. (sorry, I can't do the accent marks with this computer)

Later that afternoon we wanted to check out the pottery show room so we went next door to pull the bell. Within a couple of minutes Mireille came to open the door. She also offered us a chair with arms. Our seating area now has the futon, an electric recliner, and an armchair.
The second floor of the pottery showroom has a huge loft. On the table below are 3 stacks of the bowls I bought. Mireille is standing in the entrance.
