First Saturday in Cluny

My body still hasn't figured out night from day so I didn't get much sleep last night. I made myself stay in bed only to find out that I needed to hurry so we could get to the Saturday market in Cluny before the crowds. I learned where there is an ATM that I hadn't seen during my last visit. Now I have the money I need for October's rent. Then I met a famous cheesemaker...
He also has good saucisson. I know where to find hm in the market for future shopping. That's the advantage of going with Francis and Marie-Annick!

I was surprised at the number of dogs, especially large dogs, at the market. Later Marie-Annick said one of the vendors told her there was a dog show this weekend.
Another surprise was the use of rolling bags instead of baskets. Everyone seemed to be carrying baskets three years ago, but now most of the local shoppers have their bags on wheels...
Marie-Annick said there is a place in town where first you choose your frame and then you choose the bag, so there is quite a variety. Certainly easier than lugging baskets, but baskets have a beauty of their own. Today there was a basket maker at the market...
I'd never get one of these on the plane, but it was tempting.

And just as we have pretend vehicles for kids...
Obviously a serious driver.

There hadn't been any parking spaces nearby so Francis had dropped us off before parking the car. It was time to go home. As we wandered past the stalls of food and crafts, clothing and shoes, we came to an art exhibit.

I suspect William would not have been impressed. He preferred details...

I thought the car would only be a block or two away. My mistake. By the time we reached the parking spot I was convinced that in the future I will need to get to the market at 8 o'clock when it opens so I can park nearby.

Unfortunately, I don't think they rent those bags on wheels either, so I'll be stuffing my backpack and carrying the overflow.

Home for lunch and a nap.
