A Bit of Fall
Living requires adjusting to change, but change can be a pain in the neck. My normal reaction is often to procrastinate until there is no choice. Today I preferred to fold laundry, pick up chairs and such in the yard and get them put away for winter, and clean the house...all good things to do, but I know I was avoiding this laptop. I was so pleased at having been able to add pictures from this new Mac Air to my blog. Then a computer guru updated the photo thing-a-ma-jig and I'm back at square one. It's almost Sunday. Monday is the last day I can get help before climbing onto a plane for France. Time is running out, and I still have to pack!
So...here goes...
One day I passed a covered bridge leading to a riverside farm. Someone had added carved figures, including quite a few bats. It looked like a great place for a Halloween party.
It was easier to get this owl's picture than that of the real owl in the previous post.
August was hot and dry, but as usual, even before kids returned to school, the woods began to warn that winter was on its way.... Meanwhile, the drought turned my pond into a puddle!
That rock in the middle is normally at least four feet (over a meter) under water! I felt sorry for the trout that live in this pond. Usually the water is cold and moving. This was stagnant and warm.
These steps into the pond are supposed to be covered with water, but the dry ground was desperate. Interestingly, the silt pond only dropped by a foot.
It was hot enough for Jenny to check out shady spots. This one was good enough for her nap...
The colors are becoming more vivid. Even the greens are gaining a yellow tinge.
The water level of the lake in the middle of town has been lowered for many years because the dam was in bad shape. The lower water level allowed water lilies and other plants to cover the surface.
At long last the dam is being repaired. To hold the water back from the area the men are working in, they blew up a blue plastic tube!
It's hard to believe that the pale green and brown behind the blue tube is actually water....
Another tree turning, another post completed. I'm almost ready for France! I'll get back to this after landing in Lyon, being met by Marie-Annick, and relaxing at the Godon's home in Sologny. See you there!
