Different Route to La Clayette

I wanted to get Anne to La Clayette since I wasn't sure she would drive that distance on her own.
Where the Blanot road connects with the road to Cluny or Aze, we came across these travelers.
In Cluny we passed the best organic bread store...through the open archway.

We were taking the "green" route towards Charolles, but we weren't planning to stop at the restaurant there.

I've passed this tower a number of times, but I'll be leaving France soon and won't pass it again for at least a few years, so it was time to stop for a photograph.

Along the road this splash of color caught my eye.

I spotted a sign for La Clayette before nearing Charolles. It was a road I'd never taken. That was enough for me to make the turn and change our course.

Just a pleasant village scene.... I don't know what village we were passing through.

I was surprised to see a number of small lakes. The second even had a dock.

There's the dock...half hidden in the bushes.
Then we spotted this chateau...
There was a large space in front so we pulled over to take pictures. A fellow pulled up in his car. He didn't speak English. I explained that we were just taking photos, but he still seemed concerned.

Anne got out to speak with him. Maybe it was the looks of our old car, but he was finally satisfied that we weren't scouting the place to burglarize it.

This statue was across the road from the entrance.

It was quite a large estate since the building below was off to the right of the main house.
And further on there was another lake.
The next one was really more of a pond...
Then we reached the lake in La Clayette and parked across from this garage door...
The second the nose of a car would come out of this garage, it would be in traffic. I could sympathize with their message!
This dog was having a great time staying cool.
The baby ducklings had grown to full size ducks though they still traveled together.
A small green with a horse statue is at the end of the lake where the chateau begins.
Anne is off to find her pictures...
Here's the chateau one more time...

The lake flows into the moat.

The idea of a drawbridge is just too much fun. Looks like a concert will be held here soon and lots of people will be crossing the drawbridge.

Another surprise... people live here. There is a car parked in the garage!

Walking back to the car, I spotted these flowers growing at the lake's edge.

Some of the ducks came to say goodbye.

On our way out of town we saw what are probably the only bears in France.
