New Year's 2015

It was cold. Griff usually has the wood bin detail, but Gregg decided to help out instead. He wanted some exercise without being in the cold for too long and also a chance to try out hauling in the new wood sled. It slides across carpet as easily as it slides across snow.

In the lower right corner, Ursula's dog Chase is curious. Behind him is the half barricade; another plank fits on top to make it 24 inches tall, but Fez, a rescue pug, wasn't able to jump the one plank. That made it easier for the rest of us to get around.

The white goose mobile flying over the dining room table came from a toy store in Cluny, France. Even adults can't resist giving it a tug to watch the wings gently glide up and down.

Beyond the goose are ice tongs hanging against the wall. When we first built the house, we used railroad ties for all the retaining walls. Most have since been replaced by stone walls, but I used those ice tongs to haul the railroad ties around the yard and heave them into place.

Ursula is enjoying the iPad she got for Christmas. It was a quiet indoor day.
