Last Visit to Mont Blanc

We are off in Lauryne's new car for the tram railway up Mont Blanc out of Saint Gervais.
Two of Lauryne's friends had joined us for the day.
I'm not sure which train we went up in,,,that's Jeannie outside,,,but we came down in Anne.
At the lower levels many tree trunks were laid on the horizontal to protect the train tracks.
Climbing. Look at the size of the houses to get a feel for the space.
I wondered what the red spikey flowers were called.

The tram stopped for serious hikers to disembark. That's quite the bundle of rope!
That dark spot on the hillside is the tunnel with a bridge beyond that we are headed for.
 Hikers...
 More red wildflowers...

End of the ride. The other side of those stone steps simply drops off. Walking there is the only way to reach the path that leads around the bend to meadows. I had seen those meadows many years ago when my body was a lot more agile. This time the steps terrified me.
I was content with the view from the train "station."
Nor was I interested in the front row benches!
I wasn't the only one hanging out until the train was ready to head down the mountain. I suspect all those others had first spent time exploring. Do wish I'd brought my book.
The lack of snow was sad to see.
People were once again gathering...time to head back down Mont Blanc.
The brown is where the glacier should be. There were paths all over the mountain.

The photo below shows our train track off to the right...
Looking back to where we'd been.

 More wildflowers...
We had to wait a few minutes for the other train to pass us so it could continue on its way up the mountain while we then continued our descent. It's right across from the snow line...

Obviously a train isn't the only way to explore the mountain...

Time to return to Blanot where, on a clear day, one can see Mont Blanc in the distance. My 3 months in France were coming to an end. I wouldn't do any touring on my last weekend. I just wanted to spend time with the people I have gotten to know and love.
